Supporters of Baradene Rowing
We are fortunate to have received a great deal of support over the years and are very grateful for the way individuals and organisations within our community are willing to play a part in helping Baradene Rowing be the best it can be. We know rowing is an expensive sport and our aim is to maintain and build on Baradene Rowing club’s assets, to provide the support for our girls to perform to their potential and hopefully for each of us to help in our own little way to leave the club in a stronger state than which we joined it – for the benefit of future Baradene rowers, just as those before us have done.
As part of our capital expenditure programme we are seeking sponsorship from rowing families or their businesses. We have had 5 families kindly offer sponsorship donations of $500 each so that is a great start. We are seeking families or businesses to sponsor the purchase of an erg machine. The family or business name would go on the side of the erg to promote your support of Baradene Rowing. Sponsorships of $1,000 will be put together with both names on the erg or $2,000 will sponsor a full erg.
If you or your business would like to become a Baradene Rowing sponsor we would love to hear from you!
In return for sponsorship donations we will ensure that your family or business name is displayed prominently and proudly on one of our coach boats or our new trailer (you are free to choose). If anyone would like to consider sponsoring (or helping with) the acquisition of a new rowing boat we would also love to talk to you to. We know rowing is an expensive sport. Our aim is to maintain and build on Baradene Rowing club’s assets, to provide the support for our girls to perform to their potential and hopefully for each of us to help in our own little way to leave the club in a stronger state than which we joined it – for the benefit of future Baradene rowers, just as those before us have done. Baradene Rowing has, over the years, accumulated capital equipment (training and racing boats, oars, coach boats, trailers, vehicles, etc) worth approximately $300,000.
In the 2013/14 season we acquired approximately $65,000 of new equipment. The money to buy these assets, which are all owned by Baradene College, has been raised by past and present rowing families and through support from charitable trusts.
Baradene Rowing is very appreciative of the support over the last season of the Lion Foundation and the New Zealand Community Trust.
Our philosophy is that each group of rowing parents should aim to leave Baradene Rowing a little stronger than when they joined it. In the 2014/15 season we aimed to acquire:
- A new racing four (est. $27,000)
- A new racing eight (est. $40,000)
- New sweep oar blades (est. $14,000)
- New cox boxes (est. $4,000)
- plus a number of smaller items such as new walkie talkies and loud hailers.
While some of the funds to acquire these assets will come from selling redundant equipment the majority will come from grants from charitable trusts, fundraising events and individual donations from parents. If you have fundraising ideas, would like to make a donation or would like to get involved in fundraising please contact us.
